New Nabovarsel podcast

NaboCast Cover Great news! (although some of you may have heard already): We are waking up our podcast over at Nabovarsel, which has been in hibernation for some time. These new episodes are hosted by myself (speaking in Norwegian), and consists mainly of the most awesome people we could find, that have all taken the time to mix some of their favorite music for us. The most recent episode is by Kjetil Møster, making a pretty awesome mix of groovy jazz from distant planets, to stuff so weird it’s bordering on NSFW. Click the big’ol button below to get the podcast up in iTunes, details and listening at Nabovarsel.info.

On a personal note, I’m enjoying this return to radio talk greatly. Ever since I stopped making my weekly FM radio show at SRIB, I’ve missed sitting and chatting on a mic. Now this podcast will be a whole lot more focused than the hour-long rants on soul music and the coke habits of dead musicians from the radio, trust me. As we say in the business, stay tuned.

New song: Mace of Molag Bal

To take my mind off everything else going on right now, last night I started and finished a new track, called Mace of Molag Bal, for good measure. It started as an attempt to simulate a modular syth rack in software, and ended with saxophones. Have a listen, it’s free after all.

Fun fact: this is the fifth song I have made that starts with an M. If the player gives you trouble, here’s a direct link.

How about a free song for christmas?

Huzzah! My track Singsiri, which has been in the works for some time – and some of you might have heard an early version of already – is finally finished and ready to hit you guys right in the face.

You are all very welcome to download it for totally free right here, and if you are a music nerd like me, you can find it at Soundcloud, too.
Free stuff is awesome. Awesome stuff is awesome. Merry christmas guys.

I keep a separate mailing list for the music stuff I do, to avoid giving you stuff you don’t want. So if you liked the song and want more, sign up for the newsletter right away (If you download the song and enter your email, I’ll do it for you)!

And if you are now asking yourself  “What, music? Weren’t you a designer guy?”  Then the answer is yes and yes. I do this too. When I make music I simply use my last name, so if you see a Jacob in front, it’s a design thing. Confusing? Not at all. Don’t believe me? I have a website for it and everything. Now go listen to some music already.

More music, more stuff

Just in time for the holiday shopping carnival of madness, I am having some neat discounts in the store and I’m also finishing up a new print, set to arrive under your christmas trees as soon as I can get all the paint and emulsion off my fingers!

The discount madness starts on November 29th, be sure to click the like thingy on facebook, and I’ll let you know when the bomb drops.

In the meantime, dance around your apartement to the sounds of my newest little mixtape! Also, consider joining the most awesome newsletter on the planet (mine) to get even more awesome discounts.

Freebie: Musical theme for your mobile

astronaut girl!Did you just upgrade to iOS5 on your iPhone/iPad/whatever? Yeah, me too. One small feature they added without anyone noticing, it the ability to use your own ringtones for various alerts, not just the main ringtone when someone calls. So, naturally, I went completely overboard and made you a musical theme, a whole suite of sounds way better than the boring default ones.

The theme is called “Humans”, as it’s basically made from robots telling you what is going on with your phone. So instead of trying to remember that the “bzzoing” sound means “new tweet”, your phone will just tell you; “new tweet”, in a robot voice.

And if you’re thinking about getting a new phone with the fancy new virtual intelligence Siri, this is the perfect robot companion.

The main ringtone is a bit more fancy of course, a Nintendo inspired composition to psyche you out while you scramble between the sofa cushions for your phone.
